A nearly full bus load of Garfield Heights Senior Citizens swung in their seats and tapped to the beats of the colorful performance of Mr. Dave Luddington’s High School Jazz Band on Tuesday, April 24, 2012. Keeping in line with the yearly tradition of GH senior citizens being transported to the Center for Performing Arts for live entertainment, a near-50 person audience watched the smooth set of jazz tunes from the high school students. Specifically tailoring their medley to some ‘classic jazz’ songs, Mr. Luddington’s students performed, “Soul Man,” “That’s All” and closed with “In the Mood.” One Garfield Heights senior citizen stated, “I listened to some of this music when I was the students’ age.”
District superintendent Linda N. Reid greeted the audience, and students mingled with the senior citizens in the lobby of the CPA following the performance. Thanks to all who participated!
