The April 2024 Board of Education meeting was a showcase event for the Garfield Heights City Schools, as the entire district leadership team celebrated eleven members of the senior class of 2024 and the mentors who helped them along their educational paths, with the annual Roses for Teachers celebration. Each year, the top performers in the respective graduating class who are nominated for the Governor’s Merit Scholarship are generally selected for the Roses for Teachers celebration. During the April Board meeting, each of these students then select a teacher, coach, advisor, or staff member who helped encourage them along the way, or serve as a significant influence in their lives. Such was the case this past week as the Board of Education, Superintendent Dr. Richard Reynolds, and other district leaders helped to celebrate this year’s participants.
